Doggie Detailing is owned and operated by Heather Boyd, an award winning dog groomer who started out as a home based business in 2011 and has now expanded into a large retail space. “The move to Global Pet Foods has been wonderful as it is a bright, shiny, brand new facility to work in, and a positive caring pet friendly environment in the pet store,” said Boyd. “It's ideal, clients pop in all the time to say hello as they're buying treats or dog food, or to book their next grooming appointment. The location is perfect as there is awesome parking, is wheelchair accessible and a one stop shop for pet parents!”
Boyd started her business out of a desire to groom her own per poodle and after a couple of years of learning everything she could about the art of dog grooming she started to apprentice with a local dog groomer and attended numerous conferences, workshops and seminars and started to practice. “My wonderful husband Terry Boyd renovated the breezeway of our home into an adorable dog grooming room just for me, I bought the best equipment and I had everything right at my fingertips, it was perfect,” said Boyd. In June of 2013 she hired her first employee and by November 2014 was certified with International Professional Groomers Inc as a Certified Salon Professional, and a Certified Professional Groomer. The business has continued to grow over the past few years and as much as she loved working from home it was time to move to a commercial space. Doggie Detailing now has 5 employees including specialized cat groomers and now offers Saturday and evening appointments as it continues to expand to meet the needs of their growing clientele. Anyone interested in learning more about Doggie Detailing can call 613-94-5757.
Over the last few years Heather Boyd has competed in several grooming competitions and placed 1st in the Novice division at the Toronto Ontario Grooming show in poodle class with Leo in June of 2015. She also placed 1st in the Salon Freestyle class with Otis at the same show. She placed first at 'Get Your Groom On' in London with Leo in Novice Poodle and this year placed 2nd at the Ontario Dog Groomers Association Rescue Rodeo Competition held at the Canadian Pet Expo in March. She recently placed 2nd with Otis in the Asian class at TOGS.
