Quinte West, ON: A new dance, fitness and yoga studio is open for business in the West end of Trenton, at 469 Dundas Street West in the Plaza beside the Golden Valley. Two separate business owners have come together to provide dance, fitness and yoga classes for you and your family. Liz Lougheed-Brown of Dance with Miss Liz and Jenn Vardon of Jenn Vardon Fitness & Yoga are working together to offer quality, knowledgeable dance and fitness training in a comfortable environment.
When creating the new space, both Liz and Jenn knew right away that they wanted a feeling of comfort in their studio. Liz and Jenn’s personalities and teaching styles are reflected in the studio’s decor and reflect the needs of their dancers and clients. Both Liz and Jenn knew they wanted a space in the West end of town, close to many of their dancers’ homes and convenient to other stores such as Walmart and Tim Horton’s. The new studio has a wood-sprung floor that absorbs shocks, giving it a softer feel which enhances performance and greatly reduce injuries. For convenience, there are three showers and separate change rooms at this location as well as easy access to free parking. .
Elizabeth Lougheed-Brown is the Artistic Director and main instructor at Dance with Miss Liz and has been dancing since the tender age of three. “I followed my dreams and trained in ballet and jazz for 15 years,” said Lougheed-Brown. “I was an accomplished dancer and performer and went on to study ballet, modern, jazz and dance pedagogy at George Brown College in Toronto.” Over the years Miss Liz has taught and implanted a variety of programs at the Fleet-Wood Dancentre in Collingwood and in 2010 brought her love and passion for dance to Trenton. Elizabeth founded Dance with Miss Liz in Sept 2012 and teaches all levels of classes. Over the past few years, Liz has touched the lives of hundreds of kids in the Quinte area through dance. In the past year, she created a competitive team and entered dance competitions in Belleville, Port Hope and Kingston. Kayla Revoy is now working with her for the sole purpose of creating more competition routines and she also teaches popular classes like acro (gymnastics moves incorporated into a dance routine), tap and contemporary. Born and raised in Quinte West, Jenn Vardon has been involved in the fitness and wellness industry for over 15 years. Her first introduction to fitness came when she started lifting weights and taking cardio classes to get ready for soccer season many years ago at the old Copperfield’s Fitness Center. Jenn attended Loyalist College for the Recreation Leisure Services/Fitness and Health Promotion Program, attained her CanFitPro certification and started working as a Fitness & Wellness Consultant in the GTA. Jenn has experience working with clients of all levels and abilities and has trained for and taught almost every format of fitness class from AquaFit to TRX. At Jenn Vardon Fitness and Yoga she is bringing her most popular classes — Cardio Mix and Hatha Yoga — to the new studio and is training clients one-on-one or in small groups. Over time, Jenn plans to add more classes to the schedule including yoga for kids and senior’s classes. “I know how hard it is to make it to the gym regularly,” said Vardon. “Scheduling an appointment to work out is the #1 best way to make sure you keep your routine and the 12-week class format is designed to do just that. Everyone is invited to stop by during their open house on September 10th from 10am-3pm. There will be face painting, games, treats and registration available for the fall. All classes begin the week of September 12th.
