TORONTO, ON, JULY 10, 2015: Last year, the Ontario Chamber of Commerce (OCC) released a report on the 2015 Pan Am and Parapan American Games which outlined eight recommendations to the Government of Ontario on how to ensure that the Games leave a positive, lasting economic legacy for Ontario. The report, Beyond the Finish Line, highlighted the need for an effective tourism marketing strategy, a smart traffic reduction strategy that doesn’t hurt business, and closer relationships with Latin American businesses.
As we prepare to welcome the Games, the OCC is confident that Ontario is on the right track to capitalize on the economic benefits associated with the Games. To date, the Province has made great progress on a number of recommendations outlined in the OCC’s report.
OCC President & CEO Allan O’Dette is available throughout the Games to provide commentary from the perspective of Ontario’s business community. As your newsroom considers how to cover the Games, please consider having Mr. O’Dette speak about the unique insight from the OCC based upon our research, consultation with Ontario’s business community, and engagement by local chambers in host communities with the Games.
