What began as a hobby in a military housing kitchen has grown into a dream realized with the opening of House of Bread Bakery. Owner Sadera Jordan discovered her passion for sourdough while raising her three daughters after her family relocated to Quinte West from Cold Lake, Alberta, four years ago. After building a loyal following at the Front Street Farmers’ Market, Jordan recognized the community’s appetite for fresh, handcrafted bread and decided to open her first brick-and-mortar location. “Baking started as a creative outlet and quickly became something I loved sharing with others,” says Jordan. “The support I’ve received from this community has been incredible, and my goal is to make quality sourdough accessible to everyone while creating a welcoming space that reflects my faith and values. As someone from a military family with veteran parents, it’s also important to me to give back by offering a special day discount to current service members, veterans, police, and first responders as a small thank you for everything they do.”
House of Bread Bakery specializes in small-batch sourdough baked fresh each week, including classic sourdough loaves, rotating Bread of the Week specialties featuring flavours like jalapeño cheddar and blueberry lemon, focaccia, baguettes, sourdough pizza dough, sourdough chocolate chip cookies, and a variety of other sourdough-based baked goods. The bakery also creates custom platters for meetings, events, and special occasions featuring focaccia, artisan breads, and handcrafted treats. Customers can shop at the Front Street Farmers’ Market every Saturday or place pre-orders for pickup during scheduled Bread Days announced throughout the week.
House of Bread Bakery is located at 2223 Hamilton Road, Units 21 & 22in Trenton. Pre-orders and small batches are available on Wednesday and Friday during scheduled Bread Days, while the bakery can be found at the Front Street Farmers’ Market every Saturday from 8:00 am to 1:00 pm through October.
