Quinte West, ON: In May of 2015 Timberwolf Gallery embarked on a new journey after being in downtown Trenton for 14 years. This well-established custom framing business featured the work of owner and operator Doug Comeau, a Canadian realist artist. The gallery has been transformed and is now open at its new location at 126 Glen Ross Rd, Frankford. “I groomed Timberwolf Gallery into a successful and highly respected business in the community,” said Comeau. “The past year has been an exciting journey built around the passion and devotion of what I have always wanted to do. Having Timberwolf Gallery located at my residence marks the final chapter of my career as an artist and I look forward to showing my work in a more personal and private setting.”
Doug has had an interest in art since a child and for many years juggled his military carrier with his passion to create. In April 2001 Doug decided it was time to end his military career and move on to live his dream as a full time artist/business owner. Timberwolf Gallery in Trenton was opened in May 2001, specializing in custom framing and artwork from some of Canada’s foremost realists. There were many hurdles to overcome being an artist living in a rural community but the support has been overwhelming and instrumental in his success. One of Canada’s largest coloured pencil drawings hangs in the new city hall in Trenton Ontario, donated by Doug in appreciation for all their support.
Doug’s work is much sought after and in the spring of 2009 Doug and three local artists founded The Group of Twelve which would be made up of some of the finest Canadian realists within Canada representing contemporary realism on a national level. In 2014 Doug Comeau's Royal Canadian Mint Silver coin is unveiled; the $20 coin design depicts a bison portrait and was sold out at the mint the day of release. Interviews came right away from local news to CBC, and many more Canadians now appreciate his work, driving his career to a whole new level.
The new gallery is located at Doug's private studio where he will continue his custom framing business and gallery by an appointment schedule. Doug's gallery will feature his latest work along with his limited edition collection. With comfort and an ambiance equal to any big city gallery you can experience the art in the type of setting the artist has always envisioned. Timberwolf Gallery will be open by appointment Monday through Friday 10:00 AM to 5:00 PM and Saturday from 1:00 PM to 4:00PM. Appointments can be made by calling or texting 613-847-4700 or by email to sirdrawsallot@gmail.com. See www.timberwolfgallery.com or www.facebook.com/TimberwolfGallery for additional information and location details.
Doug will be showcasing his work at the upcoming Bay of Quinte Home Show in Trenton from April 29, 30 and May 1, 2016. He will have some of his latest creations on display and invites everyone to stop by his booth to see what he has been up to. Also, on May 7 and 8 Doug will be hosting an open house at the gallery to celebrate the new location and give everyone a chance to come and see his work in a truly innovative setting. “I look forward to your visit and the opportunity to welcome you to the world of pencil realism and a chance to re-connect with as many past patrons as possible. I’m blessed to have made so many friends throughout this journey and I’m really excited to continue on this path so come and visit Timberwolf Gallery, an experience I’m sure you will enjoy.”
