RE: Local Chamber Manager Named to Ontario Chamber Board
Quinte West, ON: The General Manager of the Quinte West Chamber of Commerce, Suzanne Andrews, was recently appointed to join the board of directors of the Ontario Chamber of Commerce at their annual general meeting in Chatham last week.
The Ontario Chamber of Commerce (OCC) is Ontario’s Business Advocate. As the most diverse and representational business group in the province, the OCC works closely with governments, labour, academia, other business associations and various groups to create a stronger and more vibrant economy in Ontario. The OCC represents 60,000 businesses across the province through their network of local chambers of commerce and boards of trade. Their members employ about two million people and produce about 17% of Ontario’s Gross Domestic Product.
This appointment followed just one day after she was elected as the new Chair of the Board for the Chamber Executives of Ontario (CEO), an organization made up of Chamber CEO’s and senior sales staff from across the province. She will lead this organization for one year whose primary focus is the professional development of senior Chamber Staff to help them fulfill their unique roles within their communities.
“I am really looking forward to working with both these boards in the year ahead,” says Andrews. “The success of the Quinte West Chamber over the past several years is due in part to the support we get from both of these organizations and I am honoured to serve on their boards. Businesses in the Province of Ontario continue to need the strategic leadership the OCC offers as they work on behalf of Ontario companies to lessen or remove the challenges they face in their operations.”
The Quinte West Chamber of Commerce will be hosting the CEO Conference here from November 13 to the 15 at the Ramada Hotel, Trenton. There will be approximately 100 delegates representing about 85 chambers across the province. “We are very pleased and excited to be hosting the conference this year,” says Mike Cowan, president of the Quinte West Chamber of Commerce. “We are very proud of the work Suzanne does locally and feel she will be a real asset at the Provincial level to help strengthen the Chamber Network across Ontario.”
