If you are looking for something new to do in the Quinte Region then Axes and Allies is for you. Recreational axe throwing is one of the new trends sweeping the province and now enthusiasts and beginners can enjoy this new sport right here in Quinte West. Axes and Allies is a partnership between Joel George, Micah George, Tamara George, Austin MacDonald and Emily MacDonald. “This is a family run start up and we are excited to bring this new experience to Quinte,” said Joel George, one of the co-owners. “We have a great location and look forward to supporting our regular leagues and group events.”
Axes and Allies is located at 2223 Hamilton Road, Unit 3 right next to the roundabout. It features three lanes, a lounge area and a canteen. Recreational axe throwing for anyone that has not experienced it before is where people throw axes at targets to score points. The hatchets are 1 ½ pounds and no special equipment is needed by participants except to wear closed toe shoes. Anyone wanting to participate needs to be 18 years of age or older and will be asked to sign a waiver. Group sizes are usually 4 to 8 people per lane. Private and corporate bookings are available.
The Grand Opening weekend for Axes and Allies is from March 23rd to 25th. All weekend long, they will be offering a $10 drop in special for half an hour of play. All future parties booked during the grand opening will receive a 20% discount off their first booking. The Thursday night league starts March 29 with sign up taking place online or in person at the club. The regular hours of operation will be Fridays 7 to 11pm, Saturday 1 to 11pm and Sunday 1 to 11pm.
