The company is owned by Crystal MacKinnon and Tammy Dixon who are both recently retired from the Canadian Armed Forces. Both women have been formally trained as logistic specialists in the military and bravely decided to retire early from government work to pursue their dream of entrepreneurship and being their own boss. “Owning our own company has been a dream we’ve always shared,” said Dixon. “We feel very fortunate to be in a position to act on our dreams and hope for bright days ahead for our new company. “
The idea of a freight brokerage came to them in 2010 while they were deployed together on Operation ATHENA, in Kandahar, Afghanistan. With the military they were deployed on multiple missions around the world and the skillset they acquired during their service will enable them to make ATHENA a top notch company. “Combined, we have served our country for 27 years,” said MacKinnon. “We are now looking forward to serving our customers with the same pride and dedication.”
