M.P.P. Lou Rinaldi announces the creation of a political working group to look at collaborative efforts to benefit Trenton Memorial Hospital going forward.
“I am excited to Chair this working group and very pleased that M.P. Elect Neil Ellis of Bay of Quinte, M.P. Elect Kim Rudd of Northumberland-Peterborough South, Mayor Jim Harrison of the City of Quinte West, Mayor Mark Walas of the Municipality of Brighton, and Tamara Kleinschmidt, Executive Director of the Trenton Military Family Resource Centre have agreed to work together to see what we can do as a group to support Trenton Memorial Hospital.”
“I recognize fully that the federal government does not fund individual hospitals, however, I think that all senior levels of government collaborating as a team can only lead to positive results. We had a very positive first meeting that I know will lead to continued fruitful results.”
~ Lou Rinaldi, M.P.P. for Northumberland-Quinte West
“Healthcare in small and rural communities is facing unprecedented challenges. The magnitude of the challenge requires partnerships of all levels of government. As MP Elect for Bay of Quinte I am pleased to work in unity with our partners on the formation of a strategy to ensure the long-term health and sustainability of TMH.”
~ Neil Ellis, MP Elect for Bay of Quinte
“When Lou put out the call to join the working group, I didn’t need to be asked twice. We had a very productive and substantive initial meeting. I very much look forward to working with Lou and the team to come up with a potential strategy to support Trenton Memorial Hospital, which is so important to all of us.”
~ Kim Rudd, MP Elect for Northumberland–Peterborough South
“I am a willing participant. Many committees have already put forth very logical solutions. As a political group we can certainly move these forward to help TMH continue to meet the needs of the Quinte Area.”
~ Jim Harrison, Mayor of the City of Quinte West
“Trenton Memorial Hospital remains vitally important for both Brighton as well as Quinte West. The continued efforts put forward by M.P.P. Rinaldi and the community engagement groups continue to illustrate the ground swell of support for full services remaining at the Trenton site.”
~ Mayor Mark Walas, Mayor of the Municipality of Brighton
The Working Group will meet on an ongoing basis.
