The City of Quinte West is temporarily allowing sidewalk sales on City property, to make it easier for businesses to serve customers safely outside during the three (3) steps of the Province’s “Roadmap to Safely Reopen.” Businesses wishing to display and sell merchandise on City sidewalks or boulevards in front of their businesses are permitted to do so with no associated fees.
The following conditions must be adhered to:
- The stand should be located in front of the building where the merchandise is sold and if this is not possible then you could consult with your neighbour to see if they have space that you could use;
- The stand cannot block any entrances or exits of your building or the neighbour’s property;
- There must be at least a 1.016m (40 inches) clear way for pedestrian travel; and
- The stand must not interfere with vehicular on-street parking.
The City requests that the racks or displays be as close to the storefront as possible in order to ensure safe pedestrian travel. If any of these conditions cannot be met feel free to contact the City’s Economic Development Office and we will try to work with you on an alternative plan.
