This November 29, 2014, the Ontario Chamber of Commerce is part of Shop The Neighbourhood, a free initiative of Yellow Pages dedicated to promoting local shopping and small business support.
Shop The Neighbourhood helps raise awareness of the important role small businesses play in creating healthy, thriving neighbourhoods and communities. The event began last year in the Greater Toronto Area and has now expanded across Canada.
It’s a great opportunity to put businesses in your membership front and center at the start of the holiday shopping season where customers can often be driven online or across the border looking for deals.
With Shop The Neighbourhood, all participating businesses can freely update their digital business listing in the Yellow Pages database (the local content of which feeds major search engines) and participating businesses are also encouraged to create a simple promotion such as a discount, gift with purchase or additional service such as free gift wrapping, exclusive to November 29th. These deals will be published for free on the Yellow Pages app, the ShopWise app and YP.ca helping many small businesses experiment with not only a digital presence but mobile advertising as well.
