Trenton, ON: It is official, the Studio Above the Grind in downtown Trenton is now open and ready to share their love of yoga and Pilates with the community. What started two years ago as an informal collaboration between some like-minded people has turned into a full-fledged Yoga and Pilates studio that now serves over 200 regular patrons. “Get Yoga” and “Pilates with Roz' have come together to form the “Studio Above the Grind”. Located above The Grind coffee shop, the newly renovated studio employs four yoga and three Pilates instructors.
“The studio has grown beyond expectations”, says Brendon Abram who is a registered Yoga teacher and manages the Yoga part of the business. “We are really pleased that so many people are benefiting from our diverse offerings. Yoga and Pilates complement each other so well. Each instructor brings a new perspective and style. With so many different classes to choose from we hope that everyone will be able to find a style of yoga that works for them'.
Brendon’s partner, Roz Gomez, is a certified Pilates instructor and offers private and class Pilates, as well as specialized sessions on the Pilates reformer machine. “The health benefits of Pilates and Yoga are gaining increasing credibility and recognition by health care providers.” Roz says. “It has been so gratifying to watch our students grow healthy and strong in mind and body. We really look forward to introducing these positive lifestyle pursuits to more people'.
With that in mind, there will be an open house at the Studio Above the Grind, 45 Front Street on Saturday, January 23rd and Sunday January 24th, from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. both days. The schedule of events includes free Yoga and Pilates classes, two specialty workshops, and private Pilates and Yoga sessions with our instructors.
“While absolutely everybody is welcome at the open house, we extend a special invitation to those who are looking to try Yoga or Pilates for the first time,” said Brendon Abram. “The emphasis over the weekend will be on presenting classes and services that are completely accessible for beginners. This really is a perfect chance to start something new!”
“The timing of this opening couldn’t be better,” said Quinte West Chamber of Commerce manager Suzanne Andrews. “January tends to be the time of year when people are looking at making positive changes to their lifestyle and this studio offers a wide range of wellness options for their clients which is definitely a growing trend in Canada. Its location in downtown Trenton above the popular Grind Café makes it a great gathering spot for people.”
