RE: UberHearing Opens Two Locations in the Quinte Region
Quinte West, Ontario: With over ten years of combined experience in the hearing aid industry, Jon Elliott and Kristin Maillard are pleased to open UberHearing™ with two locations in the Bay of Quinte Region, Stirling and Trenton. Jon and Kristin first met as teenagers at a summer camp in Prince Edward County and, while that romance did not last long, they reconnected decades later and are committed to working together to make a difference in their community. “Our commitment to be the best, both in hearing aid satisfaction and by offering the lowest prices in Canada, are rooted in something personal as well as professional,” said Maillard, co-owner of UberHearing™. “The integrity and work ethic that we admire in each other is something we want to share with the world, and UberHearing™ is our vehicle to do just that.”
Back in early 2013 CBC Marketplace, a well-known consumer advocacy television show, released an episode on hearing aids entitled, “Price Tag Confidential”. The episode was highly critical of hearing aid retailers and the hearing aid industry for the high prices of hearing aids and Jon decided he was going to use his experience as a consumer advocate, along with Kristin’s experience in the industry, to develop an evidence based approach to hearing aid testing and products. With his background in technology from Ryerson University, Jon researched, tested, and compared hearing aids from all major manufacturers to find those that had the best “speech in noise” performance in various noise settings and over different price ranges. Through this research, Jon found that some mid-range hearing aids were able to match their high-tech, higher-priced counterparts in noisy environments, and entry level hearing aids proved able to serve many people’s needs. It was decided that UberHearing™ would only sell hearing aids that could be proven effective and that they would work with clients to find hearing aid solutions, which would yield the highest benefit for the lowest cost.
UberHearing™ is open Mondays, Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Fridays at their Trenton location in the VON building at 80 Division St., Unit 22B. They are open Thursdays in Stirling at 234 North St. Their regular hours are Monday to Friday 9:00am to 5:00pm but appointments are available for those needing weekends and earlier or later appointments.
