RE: Belfast Mechanical Services a Dream Come True for Local Businessman
Quinte West, ON: Belfast Mechanical Services Inc., a new automotive repair shop in Quinte West is a dream come true for local man David Cowan. “I emigrated from Northern Ireland to Canada with my family in the mid 1970’s, said Cowan, owner of Belfast Mechanical. “My grandfather came to came to Canada at age 55 and I grew up in his shop, learning from him became the foundation for many things and ultimately led me to wanting to become an entrepreneur myself.”
David grew up in Centre Hastings, started fixing vehicles in high school, and became an automotive machinist working at Belleville CARQUEST. He later moved to Toronto and worked with Toromont Caterpillar, then became a licensed technician in automotive, truck and coach repair. He has worked in the Quinte area for the last 20 years repairing vehicles and has developed great relationships with farmers, trades people and the public. During this time, a strong bond was made with Hastings Quinte Paramedics Services and he has been repairing their EMS vehicles for the past 17 years.
Belfast Mechanical has been in Quinte West since April 2016 working solely with Hastings Quinte Paramedic Services but have recently expanded the shop so it is now open to the public. Sheldon Johansen has also joined the team at Belfast Mechanical bringing with him over 30 years of experience working as a technician in the Quinte area. “Belfast Mechanical provides a really caring atmosphere for our customers,” said Cowan, “we want to help people with their vehicle repairs or maintenance when they need it.”
