Quinte West, ON: After working for years in Sales & Marketing, Lorraine Shalitis decided to follow her love for the visual arts and open her own business in Quinte West. After completing the Starter Plus program through the Small Business Centre, Purposeful Painting was born offering paint night fundraisers throughout the Region. “I have always enjoyed the arts” said Shalitis, owner of Purposeful Painting. “As a little girl I could always been seen drawing & painting. I always knew I would come back to the visual arts and now I get to help others create while helping the community at the same time.”
Purposeful Painting specializes in ‘painting with a purpose’. Their paint night events are hosted throughout the tri-county area and are used by businesses, organizations, schools and agencies to help with their fundraising efforts. They also run paint nights for fun at local pubs and restaurants as well as private events. For every ticket sold to one of their fundraising events, $15 goes back to the cause. “I took art classes throughout high school and into my adult life and am really pleased to be able to use my passion and love of art to help others,” said Shalitis.
