Grab a bite to eat and enjoy beautiful fine art at these 4 walls gallery, opened by Quinte West entrepreneur Brandy Calvert Ringelmann in downtown Trenton.
Raised in Quinte West, Calvert Ringelmann started her first retail business Off the Hook in 2010. She saw the desire for artwork in the community when Off the Hook expanded to selling artwork as a test market in 2018.
“For the past couple years I have saved for this project of these 4 walls, and this year I have been able to bring it to fruition,” says Calvert Ringelmann. “It’s been a long four months renovating the empty and neglected spaces.”
Three units at 22 Front Street were completely renovated with walls removed and ceiling raised to make a grand, open concept art gallery. The space is 2100 square feet and features local artists’ work, including Calvert Ringelmann’s, as well as Wendy Capp’s, manager of the gallery. The gallery also features other local artists including Angela Smylie and pieces from art distributors, with the largest piece in the gallery currently from Calgary.
“You don’t have to be in the market for a new piece of art to drop in and appreciate the collection that we host,” says Calvert Ringelmann. “We have secured a regular caterer and are pleased to be working primarily with Kaleidoscope catering for the day-to-day menu of paninis, soups and salads.”
In addition to fine art and artisan food, these 4 walls will also be serving alcohol once the liquor license has been secured. The menu will then expand to offer Friday night dinners and Sunday morning brunch featuring other local caterers for a multi-course meal.
These 4 walls is also a special events space, designed to host small events and special occasions with regular seating accommodating up to 30 people, with additional seating available as required.
“We can host small weddings, corporate functions, Christmas parties and anything you can imagine,” says Calvert Ringelmann. “Off the Hook plans on even using the space for our seasonal fashion shows. Contact us for your special events or stop in for a bite and to appreciate our fine art.”
These 4 Walls is now open Monday to Saturday from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. and on Sundays from 11 a.m. to 5:50 p.m. at 22 Front St., Unit 114.
