Over the past 70 years Dr. Coward and Associates have strived to provide exceptional vision care to the people of the Quinte Region.
Dr. Leonard Coward, a World War II veteran and a graduate of the University of Toronto School of Optometry, first decided to open his optometry practice in Trenton Ontario, in 1949. Little did he know that his small single office practice would grow to become a multi-doctor, multi-generational practice servicing 3 communities in the Quinte Region.
Dr. Len Coward tirelessly serviced his patients, his profession and his community for the next 55 years. His patients benefitted from his commitment to high quality care and state-of-the art equipment. His profession benefited from his wisdom during the dozen years he served on Optometry’s governing Association and his community benefitted from the countless hours he spent serving community groups such as King Street United Church, Masonic Lodge, Trenton Public Library Board, Trenton Police Board, and the Trenton Kiwanis Club.
Dr. Bruce Coward joined the practice in 1983 and immediately undertook the computerization and modernization of his fathers’ practice and became principal owner in 1998. Tom Aquino joined the business in 1997 and helped implement the expansion of the practice to include 3 locations and the creation of an independent optical laboratory.
Dr. Bruce Coward and his Associates have advanced their practice by pursuing a mission to provide excellent vision care. They achieved this by being committed to providing the highest quality of vision and eye-health possible, by providing high quality patient satisfaction through education and communication and by providing high health-care standards through state-of-the-art equipment and continuous doctor and staff education.
For over 20 years Dr. Bruce has worked closely with a dedicated group of optometrists who endeavour to provide excellent patient care. These Optometrists include Dr. Nathalie Renaud and Dr. Jim Tzeng, who have been with the practice for over 20 years, Dr. Sanyukta Awale, who has been with the practice for 10 years and Dr. Maria Coward (Daughter of Dr. Bruce and our family’s 3rd generation optometrist) who has been with the practice for just over a year. Finally, just this year a new graduate, Dr. Ricky Chueng, has joined the practice bringing his knowledge of Vision Therapy to the Quinte Region.
