Café au Play, a community café with indoor play area, is now open in downtown Trenton, offering a welcoming space for families, parents, caregivers, and the entire community to connect and enjoy. Owner Fran Pals-Horne, a hospitality industry veteran and mother of three, was inspired to create a café open to the entire community with a special focus on parents and caregivers. “As a parent, I saw a gap in local activities for families on weekends,” said Pals-Horne. “I wanted to create an environment that not only supports families but also fosters community connections and lasting memories.”
Café au Play features a thoughtfully designed play area for children under ten, providing a safe and interactive space for creative play. While designed with families in mind, the café is open to all members of the community, offering high-quality coffee, tea, specialty beverages, and a selection of pastries and snacks (including vegan options). It’s the perfect spot for anyone looking to relax, socialize, or take a break while enjoying the welcoming atmosphere.
Families can enjoy walk-in play sessions by admission during the week, with weekend play available through online pre-booking. The café also offers birthday party packages, group bookings, and a variety of family-focused programming such as Sensory Hour and Parent’s Night Out.
Located at 56C Quinte St, Trenton, Café au Play is open Monday to Friday from 8:00 am to 5:00 pm, and Saturday and Sunday from 9:00 am to 5:00 pm.
