Habitat for Humanity Prince Edward-Hastings has opened its’ newest ReStore at 266 Dundas Street, East in Quinte West. An organization known for its philanthropic and environmental efforts, Habitat for Humanity was founded in 1976 and has since grown to become a globally acknowledged nonprofit operating in more than 70 countries. “With such great success at the Belleville ReStore location, we have seen a need to expand so we can continue to accept donations and meet the increase in foot traffic of ReStore customers. We are fortunate to have found a great space here in Trenton, offering an additional 8,000 sq. ft. of selling space to our customers, while allowing ReStore to divert landfill through recycling donated items,” noted Cindy Windsor, General Manager Retail Operations.
“The new Trenton location allows increased capacity for donations to the ReStore in our area, which provides new opportunities for sales in Quinte West, a part of our community we have not previously tapped into,” remarked Laura-Lee Bradie, Resource Development & Communications Manager for Habitat for Humanity Prince Edward Hastings. “The resulting increase in revenue will help support the various Habitat home builds we have scheduled, including in Marmora, Picton and the 66-unit condominium at 93 Dundas Street East, Belleville.”
ReStores receive community donations and sell new and gently used household supplies, building materials, furniture, appliances, and much more. ReStores also sell new clothing and home décor which comes through corporate donations and surpluses in inventory. Additionally, Prince Edward-Hastings’ ReStore locations help divert construction materials and many other items from landfills. The benefit to the consumer is they help support Habitat for Humanity’s future home builds and get to shop tax free with prices 30-75% off retail prices.
The new Trenton ReStore is open Monday to Saturday 9:00am – 5:00pm, and Sunday 10:00am – 5:00pm. They are located at 266 Dundas St. E and can be reached by phone at (613) 962-7526 Ext.210.
