Chamber Executives of Ontario (CEO) Association is the professional development association for the senior management and membership development and events staff of Chambers of Commerce and Boards of Trade in Ontario. Each year they present the “James Gordon Carnegie Memorial Award” to a member of the Chamber Executives of Ontario, who has displayed exemplary efforts as a mentor and a leader. Their peers have selected the recipient of this award across Ontario since its inception in 1997.
Nominations are received each year from Chamber and Board of Trade executives to not only acknowledge the efforts of one of their peers but also to pay tribute to the memory of a very special friend, the late Jim Carnegie. Carnegie, who acted as a mentor to many CEO members, was an outstanding leader in the chamber federation and was a dynamic community leader in his own community.
This year’s award is presented to Suzanne Andrews, CEO at the Quinte West Chamber of Commerce for her leadership over the past 17 years. During this time, she has built strong relationships within the Quinte West Chamber, other economic development and community organizations within the Quinte region and chamber executives across Ontario. This award also recognizes her efforts in mentoring others and her work through boards and committees to help strengthen the Chamber Network in Ontario and across the country.
“I am a very community minded person and believe that helping to develop our City as a great place to live makes it a great place to work and build your business,” states Andrews. “I am committed to increasing the economic, cultural & recreational assets in our community and enjoy building relationships to work towards common goals. I am thrilled and honoured to be the recipient of this years’ award.”
