Jo-ann has been making gift baskets for family and friends for about 18 years and recently decided to turn her hobby into a business. She enrolled in and graduated from the Self-Employment Benefit program through Trenval in June 2014 and launched her business just a few weeks later. “This program has helped start quite a few entrepreneurs in Quinte West,” says chamber manager Suzanne Andrews. “Not all of them are successful as running a business these days is full of challenges but with the tools they learn in this program they are off to a good start and the chamber works with them to help promote their new companies.”
